At 6pm PST, CCP will release their long awaited expansion to their popular EVE Online MMO. Trinity brings with it a completely new graphics engine, several new ships types and classes, an overhauled tutorial and a staggering number of bug fixes and optimizations. Most impressive is the fact that CCP spent 50 man years worth of work to remodel and skin over 500 ships and 200 in-game objects, all of which is being released for free to subscribers (those wishing to try EVE Online can do so free for 14-days, after which you only need to pay $20 for the game and first month of play).
Behind EVE is a small company based out of Iceland, that in my opinion is revolutionizing the way MMO's are developed. CCP's intent is to create a game that will evolve over time instead of a more traditional approach of releasing expansion packs for money, or eventually scrapping a game all together in favor of a sequel. It seems that the folks at CCP are never happy with EVE in it's current state and have slated several big features that they intend to release in 2008 that will dramatically change the way the game is experienced. Trinity represents part of a grander vision that the development team has for EVE Online, and I'm sure many of us can't wait to see what they have in store for the future.

"The first Quarterly Economic Newsletter for EVE online is now available for download as a pdf document. Indeed this is the first economic newsletter of any online universe and it is your enthusiasm for the economics of the game that has made this possible. So big thanks to all of you EVE fans.
There is a lot of information in the new QEN so in order for us to communicate well through the forums I would greatly appreciate if you could state clearly in your message which information from the QEN you are referring too. I'm looking forward to seeing your comments and participating in the discussion that will follow.
